t’s been a long cold, wet, dark winter, but sunshine and warmer temps are just around the corner.

I bet you’ll be eager and ready to get out and ride, but what about your bicycle? Have you given it a good inspection lately? Whether it’s been sitting in the basement gathering dust, or out on the road getting wet and dirty, it could probably benefit from some pre-season TLC.

Now is a good time to wash and wax your frame. In addition to making it look good, it’s the perfect opportunity to inspect it carefully for signs of a possible crack.

Shift cables tend to break one strand at a time up in the shifter body where you can’t see them. Quite often, what seems like a difficult derailleur adjustment that won’t cooperate is really a cable on its way to complete failure.

Brake pads and tires are both subject to drying out, even if they are not worn out from high mileage. A dried out tire can be recognized by the tiny cracks at the sides of the tread, while a dried out brake pad will feel hard, rather than rubbery, when you scrape it with your fingernail. Replacement is the remedy if you find either of these conditions.

The bicycle chain is typically made up of over 400 individual bits. As each link pivots around the cogs, derailleur pulleys and chain rings, they wear. All this wears adds up to what we call stretch. A stretched chain will wear out your cassette and chain rings in a hurry… big bucks to replace if you wait too long. It is best to measure the chain for elongation, and replace it as soon as it hits the wear limit.

What if you have no time, or desire, to bother with all this maintenance you ask? Well, you are in luck. Cold wet winter weather makes for slow times here in Free-Flite’s service department, so we are now offering our full strip-it-down-to-the-bare-frame and rebuild it bicycle overhaul at the special limited time low-low price of $150.

That’s right; our $250 complete overhaul can be had for the next couple of weeks for only $150! Get your bike ready for spring now!

We disassemble your bike right down to the frame, then we clean, lube and adjust all components. We’ll true your wheels, replace any parts that are needed (cost of parts not included), and have your trusty steed in top shape for the soon to arrive beautiful spring riding season.

Give us a call, or bring your bike on in today. This excellent offer will soon be gone, along with the cold wet weather!
